Fiberglass windows
Fiberglass windows are a premium product that is getting more popular. Fiberglass is light and strong with a wood look without the issues of wooden windows. Fiberglass expands and contracts at about the same speed as the glass panels in cold and hot situations. This allows them to maintain their energy efficiency longer than other types of windows. Fiberglass is also an exceptionally good insulator and stops heat and cold loss around the windowpanes.
Wood windows
Wood windows are the age-old standard. They have been around for hundreds of years and offer a warm charm and were probably in childhood home. They can be painted or stained to match your wishes and interior design. They however require maintenance to stay in good shape. They need to be stained or painted and sealed throughout their lifetime. If you fail to keep up with wooden windows they can be affected by moisture and can have insect related issues. There are Polywood® windows to choose from as well. Polywood® looks and feels like wood but is made from plastic. It is low maintenance and fade resistant. Not sure if that is what they are?
